The Training Future Leaders (TFL) Program is a US Agency for International Development (USAID)-funded initiative that will provide academic scholarships and complementary leadership development opportunities to emerging leaders in USAID priority countries in Asia and the Near East.

TFL will foster national leaders who will be at the forefront of policy and socio-economic development issues in their home countries while also strengthening scholars’ ties to the US. Successful TFL Scholars will have demonstrated leadership potential and will complete community development initiatives in their home countries prior to the start of their US degree studies.

While in the US, scholars will be expected to not only academically excel, but also to actively take part in leadership development activities available through their universities, US host communities, and/or public and private institutions in the US. Upon returning home, TFL Scholars will work closely with a local mentor, fellow TFL alumni, USAID, and local institutions to assist in the development of their countries and regions.

Additional details on the Training Future Leaders Program, application materials, and interactive on-line resources may be found through the links at the left side of this website.

TFL is implemented by the Academy for Educational Development (AED), a leading international NGO, under USAID contract # REE-I-07-05-00053-00.
